If you live in South Africa, it is officially Summer time! The hottest times of our year is generally around February and March, so we thought that we would write you a list of the top 5 things to put on your Summer to-do list! (Disclaimer: Since we are a local company based in Cape Town, some of these events may be Cape Town based).
1. GO TO THE BEACH (DUH.)
You’re probably thinking, “…obviously I am going to go to the beach..it’s summer duh”. But we are talking about THE beach. If you live in or around Cape Town, you are surrounded by some of the most beautiful, blue flag beaches in the world. Just to name a few, Llandudno beach, Boulders beach and Camps Bay beach are all spots that should definitely be on your Summer to-do list.
2. LIONS HEAD HIKE
Soak up the warm and succulent rays of a summer sun that only sets at 8:30pm in Cape Town, and explore the road less traveled by going on an evening hike up Lions Head!
3. TAKE A TRAIN
Whether you live in Durban, Cape Town or Johannesburg, they all have train facilitates that need not just be used for basic transport. Save some petrol money and use a train to make a memorable day exploring your little town (whether it be to the local Farmers Market, or even to Simon’s Town to visit the penguins.)
4. GO TO A SUMMER CONCERT
Cape Town is renowned for their Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts, and Durban for their Music by the Lake concerts. Ensure that you book a ticket or two to one of these Summer concerts this season!
5. GO STRAWBERRY PICKING
This service is available in Durban and Cape Town, and is such a fun activity (especially for families) on a warm summers day.
