There is no worse feeling than sitting on a plane, all settled in and comfy, and then suddenly coming to the dreaded realization that you have forgotten an essential item at home. There can be minor packing mishaps (forgetting to pack your favorite t-shirt) and then major packing mishaps (forgetting your passport at home.) We want to help you avoid these disastrous situations, so we decided to write you a detailed list of all the essentials that you should pack!
Your Luggage Checklist:
- Printed Travel documents (your passport, ID, flight details, hotel bookings – make sure you print copies of them all. If your bag had to go missing or get stolen, you will kiss your past self.)
- Your Passport (duh.)
- A pen (useful for when the flight attendants give you a quick form to fill out. Truth be known, they never give you a pen.)
- Tissues
- Bubblegum (bad breathe is a real thing, and it’s not cool. If you are hopping off the plane and straight into a business meeting, a quick bubblegum fix will be your savior. Tip of the day – bubblegum also unblocks your ears on a flight!)
- Toothbrush and toothpaste (leading on from bubblegum, if you are on a long flight, or have a long layover, always make sure you have a toothbrush on hand.)
- Lip Balm (planes can get cold, real cold. So ensure that you always have balm packed to keep those lips moisturized.)
- Earphones
- A book (sometimes movies can get boring.)
- Deodorant (not perfume, because no matter how tight you screw it, it ALWAYS manages to leak.)
- Hand sanitizer or wet wipes (if you’re an absolute gannet with aeroplane food, like most are, you are more than likely to spill food on yourself. Have some wet wipes available in an easy-access pouch.)
- Headache tablets
- Phone charger (or better yet, a portable charger.)
- Snacks, snack and more snacks. (You can never, ever have too much food.)
- Underwear, underwear and more underwear (let’s be real, you can NEVER have enough.)
- 2-pin plugs (adaptable to the country that you are visiting.)
- Mosquito repellants (again, this depends on the country you are going to. Whilst most essential stores would sell mosquito products, it is nice to have these on hand for your first night.)
- A capsule wardrobe (clothing and the amount of clothes you need to pack will be dependent on your destinations and how long you intend on traveling for.)
A fun additional item to pack for ladies (or men, you do you boo) is an eye mask. If you are on a long flight, and don’t manage to sleep very well , then make sure to put on a rejuvenating eye mask on about an hour before you land, and voilà. Model in the making.
