There are a few places that claim they are the most romantic in the world. But if you have ever visited Cape Town with its Candy floss sunsets you will be sold that this city is the place to be for a romantic date! Cape Town is home to many romantic, budget-friendly activities that are bound to make your partner’s heart flutter.

Here are some of our suggestions:

1. LION’S HEAD SUNRISE BREAKFAST

If you are an adventurous couple, a sunrise hike date on Lion’s Head is highly recommended. Even though you’ll have to get up early, the scenic views of Cape Town more than make up for it. Connect with your partner during the morning hike and surprise them with a sumptuous sunrise breakfast once you reach the top. Allow plenty of time for the trek back down and be vigilant on the trail. Located on Signal Hill Road.

Price: Free.

2. HARBOUR CRUISE

Step on board The Dawn for a 30-minute harbour cruise at the V&A Waterfront. Hosted by Wild Horizons Waterfront Adventures, the cruise travels around the Old Harbour and International Docks.

Along the way, you and your other half get to hear insightful stories about the area while seals frolic nearby. Bring your snacks and drinks for a romantic meal at sea. The daily trip starts and ends at Quay 5, V&A Waterfront.

3. BIKE DATES

Take in the sights and sounds of Cape Town during a bike ride with your partner.

4. SUNSET ON SIGNAL HILL

There is nothing more romantic than a Signal Hill sunset. Get there by 5.30pm, lay out a blanket, and enjoy a scenic picnic. As you indulge in a few sundowners, relish the most spectacular views of the Mother City as the sun retires for the evening.

The City Sightseeing bus also operates a Sunset Bus experience that travels along the Atlantic Seaboard through Sea Point and Camps Bay to Signal Hill.
